Amphibians and Reptiles in the Pond

Several pairs of American toads converge on the pond once or twice in a spring/summer. They lay about a thousand eggs in double strands, and a few days later the pond will be full of little tadpoles. This big male green frog appeared in late summer of 2018 and has been here a year now. He loves to chat. Maybe next year he will find a lady frog and learn how to trill to her.

Here's a little green Grey Tree Frog. They can imitate any color between grey and green, including even blue! In Spring of 2014 this baby (about a foot long) northern water snake traveled over quite a bit of ground to establish itself in MY pond!.
